I didn’t know about dating scans with my DD and my dr went by lmp even though I told him I didn’t have a normal cycle. My first scan wasn’t until I was ’19 weeks’ according to lmp and at that scan they said I was only 14 weeks 5 days, which matched much better with when I thought I’d fallen pregnant knowing my cycle lengths. Thankfully there was a clear heartbeat or I probably would have freaked out. With both DS and this pregnancy my cycles were shorter but still about 6 weeks.
Fortunately I’d learnt from my experience with DD and expected my dates to be at least 2 weeks out from what the lmp said. I also knew to ask for a dating scan to confirm how far along I was.
